The objectives of Bengal Chess Association inter alia are:


a)    To seek affiliation from All India Chess Federation, the apex body of chess in India.

b)   To arrange and manage the West Bengal State Chess Championships and such other matches and tournaments as the committee of the Association may consider desirable and to frame and publish rules and regulations for them and fix dates and places where such matches and tournaments shall be held;

c)   To collect funds for the purposes of the Association and to employ them in such manner as the committee may deem desirable to further the objects of the Association;

d)   To include such other activities as will be conducive to the growth of the objects of the Association;

e)   To accept any gift of property, movable or immovable, free of encumbrance in furtherance of any of the objects of the Association

f)    To purchase, takeover, or otherwise acquire property movable or immovable and to acquire any rights or privileges which may be deemed necessary or expedient for the purpose of the Association.

g)    To co ordinate the chess related activities of various Districts and Clubs in West Bengal

h)   To promote chess in schools, colleges and other educational institutions.

i)     To encourage, assist, advice and train-up players with the object of improving themselves and their performances in the game of chess.

j)      To affiliate chess playing clubs and organizations, Office-clubs and chess coaching institution/academy in West Bengal under the Association.

k)    To prescribe rules to be followed by the clubs, organisations, institutions etc. affiliated to the Association.

l)     To conduct Official tournaments (District/State/National/International event), to arrange for selection of players for the national championship, inter-state and inter-district competitions and to organize exhibition matches, competitions & tournaments in the game of chess.

m)  To invite and/or arrange for visits of meritorious players, teams, clubs, institutions etc. both of national and international repute in the game of chess, in the society or any other places of the district of this state.

n)   To arrange and provide facilities for meetings, conferences, seminars, lectures demonstrations etc. in the connection with the game of chess.


o)    To make representations to local or central authorities-executive or legislative, on any matter for the fulfillment of the objectives of the society.


p)    To amend, modify & alter the Memorandum of Association and Rules & Constitutions if it becomes expedient to do so.


The functions and objects of BCA shall always remain restricted within the meaning of the section 4 (2) of the West Bengal Society Registration Act 1961 irrespective of any object mentioned in the present document in agreement  or opposed the  said section. Before commencing the activities of the Society necessary approval/permission will be obtained from the Government or other appropriate/concerned authorities as and when required.

  The income and properties of the Society whatsoever derived or obtained shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the object of the Society and no portion- thereof shall be paid to or divided amongst any of its members by way of profits.
